Food Storage On A Budget

Today we will be covering some food storage ideas on a budget. It is always good to explore ideas to improve your current food acquisition procedures for long term and if you are not already storing, this may help get you started. It may seem simple, but so many either opt for bullets before beans or waste hundreds or thousands of dollars buying overpriced storage foods.

I talk about ways to easily add food storage such as “copy canning”, canning your own, and/or dehydrating your own. I cover buying on sale and couponing somewhat. I also tell you why I’m not a fan of the “universal long term foods” like rice and beans.

Back To Basics

Howdy Patriots. I am back with a new podcast format. The new format is going to involve mostly micro podcasts, but this time there will be one every week day with more preparedness than politics and current events. I will still be doing current events and politics though if there is a major relevance to your everyday life. I strongly encourage you to focus on your local politics, because they will have a greater effect on your life than the criminals in DC.

In this episode I talk briefly about the not so “Net Neutrality” neutrality legislation and how they are trying to convince you into allowing the government to run a monopoly with the cable providers under a guise of neutrality. Don’t fall for it. Then I give you a back to basics list of quick things to get you back in to preparedness. Since the election it seems so many people think the world is rainbows and unicorns,  it is not. America is still in debt for $20,000,000,000,000. I hope showing you the full sum instead of the abbreviated form wakes people back up. It is no time to fall a sleep with preparedness, so I will be focusing on it again. This episode is just a preview of more detail coming.

I would also like to give a shout out to the American Patriot Vanguard Motorcycle Club. There mission is to make America great again by assisting our veterans, our homeless, and our children in need. Reaching out to fellow Americans regardless of race or gender and inspiring others to do the same as well as defending the United States of America Constitution.

The Dying Voice Of Preparedness

An abandoned private library. Photo credit ebaumsworld.com

“Charlie, preparedness isn’t dying.” You are correct, prepping isn’t dying, but the fad market isn’t the only preparedness market fading. I read the front page article of American Survivor, a newsprint newsletter from a very old preparedness organization called Live Free USA.

The article talks about the down turn of popularity in preparedness and the long time survival publications. All of this coupled with the digital age reminded of the fact that more has to be done to preserve hard copies of useful information. In this episode I try to drive the point that as handy as tablets and digital books are, we should also be interested in storing the informative articles and how-to in a form that is not just electronically accessible.

Charlie’s Two Cents Q&A

Welcome to the long awaited repeat of the question and answer podcast I have been talking about for a long while. I figured I’d make this a Charlie’s two cents because it really is just my opinion and, or advice most the time with some facts wrapped into it. Please send me questions that you would like answered or at least to the best of my ability to Podcast@APIIINation.com with “Q&A” wrote in the subject line for future episodes. To help, if you would also like your fist name attached to the question in the episode I bring it up, please say so in the email.

Today I answer a question pertaining to water storage. A question regarding healthcare providers asking about firearms that a loyal friend of the show sent me. Some ideas about preparing with a baby in the mix is also on the agenda. A listener asks what my thoughts are on the google definition of fascism. I’ll be rounding out the episode on my opinion of the greater threat, AntiFa or North Korea.

The Tuttle Twins - a child's foundation of freedom

Learn Your Kids Some Skills Podcast

Ok I’m sure some of you are irritated with the title, I’m sorry, just trying to get your attention. In this episode I will give you some of the skills I believe children should be taught before they are a teenager. So many kids live behind the technology of the time, not that children shouldn’t be well versed in the electronic age. The point is, as good a tool as YouTube and the many free educational tools there are out there, there are many very important life skills that can’t be taught through these electronic marvels. It is especially important to learn these before you need them in a time when you can’t just find a YouTube video. Here is a warning for this episode, just because I lay down this list of skills, you as the parent or guardian of your child should not expect or try to teach them a skill that you personally don’t feel that they are mature enough to learn or perform by themselves. If your child is not mature enough, you should look into finding another skill that builds maturity and responsibility before you try. I also make the point that a lot of these items may just sound like average chores or labor for your child… it is good for children to learn a work ethic at a young age because as a former employer myself, the majority of the youth have NO work ethic. Do you have any other suggestions as to skills I missed, please email me at Podcast@APIIINation.com.

Often Overlooked Prepping

There are so many items that people know they need in case of an emergency or disaster. Most of us focus on the bullets and beans, but what about the toilet paper and tampons? In this episode, I asked my colleagues from the Michigan chapter of APIII what they think is some of the most over looked items when it comes to preparing. These are just some of the items that they suggested and I could also think of while I was recording in the mobile studio. Some of these items can also be found on my Preppers Shopping List episode. If you have suggestions, please email me or comment below with what we may have missed.

APIIINation Fire Preparedness

Winter is definitely upon us and with furnaces, wood stoves, and fire places burning hot; I talk about fire prevention. You have put a lot of money into your house and into preparing your family for disaster, you don’t want to lose it all in a house fire that could have been easily stopped or prevented. Do yourself and family a favor, spend a little money on fire prevention.

Some items to start looking into if you don’t already have them are:

Winter Preparedness Podcast

I have been hinting at this episode for a week or two already, so here it is. I talk about preparing your vehicle and your home for winter. I talked about this in a previous article called Winterized, Are You?, so think of this as a supplement in audio form. I cover general vehicle maintenance as a reminder along with worst case scenario, you are stuck in your tin can through a blizzard. Items to remember for your vehicle:

  • Hand warmers
  • Warm Clothes
  • Hats
  • Gloves
  • Boots
  • Coat
  • Blankets
  • Snow shovel
  • Cat litter
  • Tow rope
  • Snowshoes

Surviving a blizzard stranded in your home with no electricity is a lot easier due to the insulation in your walls. I still cover the need for generators or inverters and having a heated room in the case of no electricity or wood fire. Please let me know if I missed anything by emailing podcast@apiiination.com

Election 2016 Preparedness

Howdy all my preppers and patriots, are you ready for the election? No I’m not talking about casting your vote. I’m referring to the almost certain chaos that is sure to follow the election results. No matter who wins, there is sure to be at least civil unrest somewhere in the country. In this episode I am here to remind you of the basics and try to sway you not to go into public places for at least a week after the election.

Weekly Prepping Podcast: Floods

Flooding in Nashville, TN

Flooding in Nashville, TN

With all the recent flooding, I decided that I should cover flood preparedness. I am not the expert on this subject, but I will give you some ideas that I have that may help you prepare for the #1 natural disaster in the United States. I did forget to cover using sandbags to protect your house in the episode, I figured that went without saying. Remember though, if the threat of high waters is there, better to have an evacuation plan already set up.
